Some rocks have attracted special attention because of their beautiful colors and patterns. After polishing and carving, they can become beautiful architectural decoration materials. For example, India's Taj Mahal, white marble carvings, landscape painting screens... all use marble.
The scientific name of marble is marble. It is a metamorphic rock formed by the metamorphism of sedimentary rock (also known as limestone) formed by the natural precipitation of calcite (the main component is calcium carbonate). During its metamorphism, the calcite grains increased and became more and more "clean," and the originally green limestone turned into white marble.
The actual limestone is not 100% pure calcium carbonate, but will be mixed with other impurities, such as magnesium, iron, mud, etc. Therefore, during metamorphism, these impurities will cause various disturbances to the marble. Metamorphism converts magnesium salts in the original rock into green minerals such as diopside; enrichment of iron will bring red color into white marble; brown-yellow strips may be due to the high content of argillaceous and felsic in the original rock. As a result, various beautiful patterns are often left in the white marble.
